A salute to Erdogan, a salute to Turkey

By Khalid Amayreh in occupied Palestine
The recent Turkish decision to exclude Israel from an aerial military exercise over Turkish territory is another indication that Turkey will not allow itself to be blackmailed by criminal international Zionism.
Following the decision, Zionist officials and media sought to mitigate its impact on the increasingly troubled relations with Turkey by claiming [...]

Khalid Amayreh Interview: "the mental landscape of every Palestinian man, woman and child is overwhelmed with the Israeli nightmare"

By Mary Rizzo • Sep 24th, 2009 • Category: Analysis, Counter-terrorism, No thanks!, Culture and Heritage, Interviews, Israel, Newswire, Our Authors, Palestine, Religion, Resistance, Somoud: Arab Voices of Resistance, War, Zionism

Those who seek information about Palestine often tend to be attracted to particular writers and journalists for the special insights and gifts that seem to be uniquely their own. “The Middle East Crisis” is an issue having a profound, complex and multi-faceted dimension of interpretation, that for however long there has been a crisis (and worse), and despite the great abundance of written material available, more than we can ever realistically confront, the reader is driven to seek the voices that can analyse any aspect of the situation clearly. There really are far fewer with this talent than one would expect. The characteristic of this type of writer is that there is a distinctive voice or style, and more than that, there is a strong sense that the coherent and authentic ethics of this person are part of the message. It is not just reporting facts and intelligent analysis, but creating within us a consciousness of the moral situation that underlies the events. Khalid Amayreh is one such “source”. He is a very prolific author, and he is often able to correctly analyse the event of the day and place it into its overall context. This makes his work almost a diary of Palestinian events. However, as useful as it would be if he limited himself to reporting, Khalid Amayreh is far more important as a writer. He is concerned with the human condition and knows that the reader should not be left only with a cold reportage, because that would be telling only half of the story, and the less important half at that. His voice is the one speaking to the human heart, to the reader who sees the oppression that Palestinians are living under, and is mystified at they are no nearer to the end of their suffering. Khalid does not talk about “indiscriminate masses”, his work is almost a passion play, where there are names, identities, human stories behind all of the events narrated. In this interview, he touches on many issues in his intimitable way.

Another farcical show

This article was written a few hours before the New York meeting
One doesn’t have to be a prophet to predict the outcome, or more correctly failure, of the three-way meeting between President Obama, the Israeli premier Benyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, which is to take place later today in [...]

Ramadan asserts Muslim attachment to Jerusalem

WRITTEN BY KHALID AMAYREH  in Jerusalem
As the month of Ramadan draws to a close, many Palestinians are devoting the last ten days of the holy month to gaining more  spiritual enrichment through I’tikaf or uninterrupted spiritual engagement.
Many people are going for I’tikaf this year, motivated by a desire to gain Allah’s blessing and also encouraged by [...]

Khalid Amayreh – Netanyahu’s Kafkaesque vision of Palestinian statehood

By Khalid Amayreh • Jun 15th, 2009 • Category: Analysis, Counter-terrorism, No thanks!, Features, Israel, Khalid Amayreh, Mary's Choice, Newswire, Our Authors, Palestine, Resistance, Zionism

There is no doubt that Benyamin Netanyahu’s odious screed at Bar Ilan University Sunday night was a slap in the face to all those who gave the so-called  “peace process” between the Palestinian people and Israel the benefit of the doubt.
First, it was a brazenly direct affront to President Obama who thought rather naively that nice words about [...]

Khalid Amayreh – Zionists: We hate you because you are evil, not because you are Jewish

By Khalid Amayreh • Apr 1st, 2009 • Category: Analysis, Features, Hasbara Deconstruction Site, Israel, Khalid Amayreh, Newswire, Our Authors, Palestine, Religion, Resistance, Somoud: Arab Voices of Resistance, War, Zionism

Zionist massacres then and now. I have been under fire of late from two diametrically opposite quarters. First, the fanatical, self-worshipping Zionists who think that non-Jewish suffering should never ever be compared with Jewish suffering.

Needless to say, this psychotic attitude stems from deep-seated convictions that a Jew is a special creature whose life is worth [...]

Shame on us!

What will happen next? Will Palestinian kids be duped into playing music to Israeli pilots who exterminated Gaza children with White Phosphorus?

It is really hard to write on this subject without getting angry. We all know the extent to which Israel can be evil and satanic. After [...]

Khalid Amayreh – Devouring Jerusalem

By Khalid Amayreh • Mar 27th, 2009 • Category: Analysis, Culture and Heritage, Israel, Khalid Amayreh, Nakba and Right of Return, Newswire, Our Authors, Palestine, Religion, Resistance, Zionism

In its increasingly rabid efforts to consolidate control of traditionally Arab-East Jerusalem, Israel this week moved to suppress Palestinian cultural activities associated with the city being declared the capital of Arab culture for 2009.
On 19 March heavily armed paramilitary police violently dispersed a meeting at the Ambassador Hotel in East Jerusalem, confiscating posters, leaflets, placards [...]

Obama: the problem is the malignant tumor called Israel

By Khalid Amayreh • Mar 20th, 2009 • Category: Analysis, Israel, Khalid Amayreh, Middle East Issues, Our Authors, Palestine, War, Zionism

WRITTEN BY Khalid Amayreh

One of the most scandalous aspects of US foreign policy towards the Middle East is the shocking dishonesty inherent in the American approach regarding the Palestinian plight.

The US often watches Israel indulge in pornographic criminal acts against Palestinian civilians, acts that contradict the most fundamental American ideals and norms.

However, instead of condemning [...]

Khalid Amayreh – The Mossad's Arab Writers

By Khalid Amayreh • Feb 15th, 2009 • Category: Analysis, Counter-terrorism, No thanks!, Features, Israel, Khalid Amayreh, Newswire, Our Authors, Palestine, Religion, Resistance, Somoud: Arab Voices of Resistance, War, Zionism

Needless to say, a writer, or even a commoner, who gleefully rejoices over the extermination of children, as we saw recently in Gaza, has obviously banished himself from the realm of humanity.
Unfortunately, there is a number of so-called Arab writers who seem to have devoted themselves to besmirching and vilifying Hamas and other Arab resistance movements, as if the right thing to do were to succumb to Zionism, the Nazi-like movement that has been murdering Palestinians, destroying their homes, stealing their land and dispersing them to the four winds.
Indeed, instead of standing up for justice and identifying with the oppressed against the oppressor, as every noble human being should do, these wicked mercenaries have decided to curry favor with the Nazis of our time probably in the hope of receiving a certificate of good conduct or a citation of honor from Zionist entity. Or perhaps they hope that international Zionist circles might press award-granting bodies in the West to reward them for their treasonous behavior.
