Suicide Bombing comes out of the japanese Kamikaze tradition, which was used in the last year of the WW2 War in the Pacific Theater as a last desperare attack on the American fleet steaming its way towards Japan. Kamikaze pilots also wrote poetry and meditated, had their fotos taken, their last words taken down to deliver to their families, before taking off on their suicide missions. (This aspect is in use among later suicide bombers in the Middle East.) In Mike Davis' Buda's Wagon A History of the Car Bomb, the car bomb begins with the explosion on 16 spetemeber 1920 of a wagon on Wall Street so powerful it killed 35 people and wounded hundreds. In the 1930's The Stern Gang esp picked up the use of car bombings, for use agsint British/Palestinain sites (hotels, etc.) This was later picked up on by Arab fighters; but was introduced by tthe Zionist organizations in the 1930's. (During that time peirod, following theiuses by gangs primarily in Chiago, car bombings had darmatically stopped in the USA, country of the car bomb's origin.) The charter calls for jihad against its colonizing enemy in the name of Allah, so religion has something to do with being a suicide bomber. It follows from your logic that most other groups than Muslims would also commit suicide by strapping bombs to their body and detonating them.
