Yousef Abudayyeh – Muslim & Arab Organizations in the US that condemned the killing in Texas should be ashamed of themselves

By Yousef Abudayyeh • Nov 9th, 2009 at 15:57 • Category: Arabian Coffee House, Counter-terrorism, No thanks!, Newswire, Religion, Somoud: Arab Voices of Resistance

fort hoodMuslim organizations and the people who run them in the US should be ashamed of themselves for what they have done to add to the misery and discrimination that Arabs and Muslims face in the United States of America.

These sad and bankrupt organizations are always the first to condemn any tragedy that happens here or anywhere for that matter, when the perpetrator(s) are of the Muslim faith or are Arabs or of Arabic heritage.

Their actions are responsible for the continued discrimination against us. Instead of issuing condemnations of crimes that take place, and making it look as if being Arab or Muslim is the reason for committing the crime, they should have a backbone and either shut up or take the stand that will challenge the right wing and the system in the United States and make it clear to them that Islam and or Arabs are not reasons crimes take place.

No human being should condone the killing of people anywhere and that's why we should all be shocked to see crimes such as the one committed by Nidal Hasan take place.

Crimes always take place and they are carried out by people who for whatever reason(s) commit them, and we all should take a clear stand against these crimes, but the Muslim and Arab organizations in this country should not be waiting for crimes carried out by Muslims and or Arabs to take place so they can be the first to condemn them, but their job should be to combat racist acts and rhetoric that is taking place on daily basis, which goes without any challenge.

Since the first second that media outlets in the US learned that Hasan was a Muslim, they started attacking the religion and those who believe in it and the condemnations by Muslim and Arab groups did nothing but add fuel to these racist attacks on us.

This should be clear to those organizations, because this always happens. And even though some Jason Rodriguez went into his former work offices in Orlando Florida and started shooting and killing people there, media outlets said nothing about this guy's religion and its role in having him commit this outrageous crime, nor did Christian organizations issue any condemnations - even though no one group in the history of the world has committed more crimes than Christians.

So why do these Muslim and Arab organizations keep doing this?
Go figure.

  1. Essalamou aleykom,
Excellent article. Jazaka'llah khayran. You have perfectly described the way such organisations are deceiving their people by making it easier for their opponents to stigmatise muslims in USA and elsewhere. They bow their head and kneel in order to be accepted by them. It's really a shame!! They still haven't understood that those from which they seek acceptance will never ever consider them as their equal; whatever they might do.

  2. No, we should not condone murder. And, as Dr. Sabrosky says in his article today:
Tragedy At Ft. Hood: A Catalyst For Change?
The shooter must be held accountable for what he did, and he must be tried and held accountable.

But, I still feel that the "blame," for what happened, the underlying circumstances which drove an otherwise sane man to do an insane thing should share and bear their portion of the burden of the "blame" for what he did.

Insanity has always been an "excuse" in Law. Men who are stressed and broken in combat should be treated, and the "blame" for the damage they do should be laid at the feet of those who lied, coerced, or led or forced them into doing what they did, and placed upon them emotional and mental burdens which they were not prepared to handle, or whose psychological defenses had been manipulated and warped for the purpose of doing a articular job. Killing!

You cannot train men to kill, and then excuse yourself from blame when they come home and kill people whom you did not target for them.

I doubt that the Major killed anyone because he was Muslim. However, being a Muslim might have exposed him to treatment and attitudes which created sufficient emotional stress for him to kill. Why were the blacks who Dr. Sabrosky mentions so angry? Did they riot and mutiny because they were black? Or were they goaded and pushed into insane responses to situations which were forced upon them because they were black? It ain't easy being different in America!

By "different," I mean, of course, non-Caucasian white, Anglo-Saxon and Protestant Christian!

We often here of Dozens of other men who crack in battle, or the "war-slaughter syndrome," suffer PTSD whatever names they wish to call it are not identified as religious zealots, but as psychologically stressed and disturbed people, reacting to environmental stresses which they are incapable of coping with. Have all of those men who have come home and shot their wives, done so because they were Christian, Jew or Muslim? Has anyone ever noted whether they had any kind of religious belief or affiliaton at all?

All of this "Muslim" issue is so much trash, from both sides. The guy suffered job stress, had enough-is-enough, wanted out, and could not resolve his dilemma! He cracked and will suffer the consequences of his actions, period.

  3. The powerful Zionist-controlled mainstream media in the US and the West for that matter – has succeeded in creating an atmospher of fear in the US that to express an honest opinion is tentament to loosing one's career or even life – especially if the taget happens to be a Muslim.

One wonder why these 'Islamophobe' idiots don’t mention criminal's religious affliation when he/she is a non-Muslim?“For example, Jiverly Wong killed 14 people on April 3, 2009 or Michael McLendon killed 10 people on March 10, 2009 or Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 people and wounded 35 on April 16, 2007 – Dylan Klebold (a Jew) murdered 12 students at Columbine High Sechool on April 20, 1999 or George Hennard killed 23 people on October 16, 1991 or Pat Sherrill killed 14 postal workers on August 20, 1986 or James Oliver Huberty who killed 21 people in a McDonald’s restaurant on July 18, 1984 or George Bankwho killed 12 members of his family and a bystander on September 25, 1982 or Charles Whitman (a Jew) killed 16 peoplein Austin on August 1, 1966.

In nutshell, it's dangerous to be a Muslim in America.

  4. The article illuminates the situation correctly, and makes great points.
    @ Shaukat
When we want to have credibility beyond boundaries of those who know and understand us, then we must omit phrases with terms like "zion" or avoid any disturbances in a reader who comes from the outside.
Communication should not only find consent between peers. That is why we can learn a lot from those who have power over the media.
Then to the other aspect leading to the crime – as such it is categorized – something else that I want to share.

    Black Truth :
Isn't it convenient how he passed all investigators and intelligence services? Must have been a big party cracker to see the time bomb walking into its incineration. I am sure they placed repeatedly guns and rifles around him to stimulate his underconscious desire to explode. They must have had a camera everywhere he walked, and have now a big laugh watching dying 13 soldiers in the cause of further purposes. When it wouldn't have been a Muslim, they would have created a puppet looking as Muslim, like they create the hatred in those who want to kill anyone.. any religious loser, either Christian, Jew, or Buddhist, Muslim.. so fast that you can't spell Japanese or Muslim.
Don't wonder when the chief of staff breaks out in giggles, and admits under cramps in his stomach that they knew it all way long. It just took so long to come. Isn't that funny? It was just so amazingly beautiful to see how it happened. Let's create a state enemy. In III Reich it was the Jewish.

  6. As a veteran of the US Army with 4 other brothers who served in the US military (Nabil-Army, Lutfi-Marines, Suleiman-Army and Taiseer-Marines) with two nephews (Aaron and Jamil) in active service with the US Army, and come from the same hometown, no one could ever accept such criminal behavior no matter what are the motives. However the US Army of yesteryears is not the same army of today. Today Christian Evangelical chaplains and officers leading the charge, bombing departing soldiers with (Christian faith and Islam hate). I never in my years on active duty ever saw or witness any kind of discrimination. On the contrary special food was prepared for me on day one of basic training and was offered few hours off on Friday to attend Friday noon prayer. That is the kind of army and marines we all remember. However Major Nidal is not the first one nor will be the last one to go “postal”. Too bad every one from Rabbi/Senator Joseph Lieberman to the so called “experts” on terrorism are trying so hard to pinpoint terrorism charges on Major Nidal simply because he is Muslim. No member of the families of those who committed similar crimes had to declare, “we love America” in order to fend off anger and hate and no similar acts are pushed to fit acts of terrorism. One need to extend sympathies and condolences to the families of victims, but no need to go along with the likes of Rabbi/Senator Lieberman who are using fighting words to promote hate and anger toward the Arab and Muslim community. for more on this issue please go to http://www.jeffersoncorner.com/major-nidal-hasan-and-rabbisenator-joseph-lieberman/#more-483

  7. The author writes:
    > No human being should condone the killing of people anywhere and that's why we should all be shocked to see crimes such as the one committed by Nidal Hasan take place.

Anybody who is NOT a consistent pacifist, and that means almost anybody in the world, does condone the killing of some people in some situations. It's only when people who are valued by the dominant powers (even if valued only as useful idiots, like those at Fort Hood) are killed that we are deluged with variants of the above cliché that nobody should condone killing of people anywhere. And, disgustingly, we get that from people who supposedly are opposed to the dominant powers, while these same people seldom invoke that cliché when some enemy of those powers, be it a "jihadi" or a leftist guerrilla, is killed.

I'm not interested in kissing the collective butt of those dominant powers and will say what I think: The only thing wrong with Major Hasan's action was that he didn't target officers or, even better, major civilian promoters and enablers of imperialist war.
