But i think it goes far far deeper than the smoke and mirrors stuff so that the public is distracted. It has virtually created "a feel good" approach that is spelled out in the way people are judging the validity of a programme, a party, a system, and it turns policing into a really positive thing, as well as CCTV, tracking everyone everywhere and making them feel that they are part of a "community" that "cares about them" so much that it will protect them against their "common" enemy.

This is at the root of supremacist, racist, exclusionist and exclusivist thinking and it certainly is the philosophy behind all the protected communities we see in the world. Protecting them against those who are going to fight for their rights.

But really, is this any big deal? Is it not just another 'tactic'. It's no secret that the rich's right-wing foundations fund think-tanks and sponsor academics to creatively come up with ideas, philosophies, catch-phrases, schemes – anything to muddy the waters, discredit class politics, divide and rule. Some catch on, like identity politics, feminism, 'yes we can'… hundreds of others pop up and then disappear back into obscurity again. I'd assumed that Communitarianism was just another of these 'fleeting notions'. It certainly sounds like something worth being against; but surely giving it too much attention is just another way of distracting from the bigger strategy of which it is just an ephemeral tactic – the class-war being waged by the rich against us all.
