Paul Craig Roberts is not the issue. The question is, what are the politics of the people demonstrating in the streets of Iran? I don't understand Farsi, and I'd like to know if there have been any signs or chants in solidarity with the Palestinians, with (Lebanese) Hezbollah, or with any other targets of Isramerica? Or, on the other hand, have pro-U.S. and even pro-Israeli sentiments been expressed?

If it turns out that the demonstrators want a policy of friendship with the Israelis and USians, and would end support to resistance groups, then I'd rather see them shot down in the streets than achieve their aims. The situation is bad enough with the U.S. and its allies and puppets running amok in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan and with U.S. military bases in countries to the north of Iran. A U.S.-friendly government in Iran, however "democratic" it might be in terms of Western personal liberties (but probably NOT the liberty to eat, be educated, or have medical care), would be a further menace to the peoples of the region and, by giving the U.S. both a more secure supply of -- and a greater chokehold over -- oil, to the peoples of the world.

<a href='#comment-10747' rel="nofollow">@Zarina Bhatia</a> -
Thanks very much Zarina. It was refreshing to read your comment. The one thing PTT always tried to do and will always try to keep doing is to keep the voices of the people free to speak for themselves without censorship or punishment for speaking out. I am really tired of many Palestine and Mid East sites that think that in order to appeal to the readers of the English language, they need to have Americans, Brits, and Westerners write the papers. I always resented that. We are really lucky we have so many collaborators in the site and friends who are willing and able to present their thoughts so that we know what kind of ideas are circulating.

thanks for your support!

I liked this article tremendously although I only just red it, sorry Palestinian Think Tank! Sometimes I get bored with rhetoric and endless and useless comments and polemics it gets into! Because this is an excellent article by an Iranian with such confidence in the present situation there, I see no comments on PTT! I livse in the propaganda state of UK that thinks Iran's democracy lies in this opposition's head cropping up, that of Moussavi who leads everyone down the garden path of bringing in 'democracy' or 'freedom to women' etc. But I am not going to be sold out to this propaganda of US, Israel or the European states, including Gordon's Britain! There is a lot of sense in overlooking BBC's campaign of John Simpson's reporting as he did also on Iraq to justify his country's foreign policy of imperialist UK of Invading any country it does like it did Iraq and does not get its troops out of Afghanistan, in spite of soldiers having died like flies this month just ending!

My advice to the readers is let the people of a country decide its own fate without the intervention of the so-called 'civilised' western powers who bribe one side that benefits them against the other! Thanks for opening the eyes of at least readers of PTT. I am a woman and would like a little less religious element in Iran but its integrity comes first as an independent state in the Middle East with very hostile neighbours like Israel threatening to invade it with US giving it green light as John Biden said a while ago. I shall tick the box for comments this time and want to get my Inbox to be jammed as I suffered with silly responses to Gilad Atzmon's article on Marxism! Cheers!
