Time and time again US Presidents including Dubiya and Obama keep saying in rhetoric to support a two-state solution for the Issue of Palestine. We also know that in his recent speech addressed to Muslims worldwide Obama hardly mentioned the real caged Palestinians in Gaza. In West Bank which is so fragmented into little bantustan dots surrounded by formidable walls and road-blocks there is hardly a possibility of expecting the settlers to quit the occupied Palestine. These US Presidents continue to talk about two-state solution. In my opinion, this is only empty words! The reality is that settlers are not likely to leave their stronghold in the occupied West Bank. I even heard on the grapevine that even if they did they are already asking for compensation! This is from a reliable source of the adherents of two-state solution, I shall not name names! It as from an obvious source known, a newsletter's co-editor, The Other Israel, who is said to have suggested this! What I say is that it is all a hypocrisy. Thanks for Ilan Pappe's speech!

RE: "But what sounds dreadfully important for the American president, from his election Campaign and political performance so far, is his aspiration to stay in power and to be elected for a second presidency period."

Well, if he weren't concerned about that, he would not be the president, but just an irrelevant activist. Give him a chance. Perhaps in a second term he will be increasingly brave. And don't overestimate US power over Israel, it is actually more the other way around, so it will take time, and ultimately the Palestinians will have to liberate themselves, so no change in that regard.

Lina Sulieman
Thank you for your incisive analysis of recent events.Last month I joined five friends from Australia and visited Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.
Tw o of them were Arabic speakers of Greek Orthodox background .
From Aleppo, Palmyra and Damascus in Syria to all parts of Lebanon every conversation with local people insisted that until Palestine is free there will be no peace in the Middle East.We spoke to suporters of Hezbollah , Michel Aoun, Amal, Hariri and undisclosed parties. They all deply resist Israel's actions.
Obama is on a tightrpope as the leader of the US Democratic Party which is susceptible to the Israeli lobby.
You have shown the nuances of his speech which clouds over the future of existing settlements.
Thank you for the video of Ilan Pappe and the Nakba.
Hillary Clinton is playing the bad cop to Obama's good cop and God help us if Fatah is seen as the face of the Palastinians.
They didn't say mea culpa for arming Israel in their bludgeoning of Gaza.Until they do we are going to follow an Israeli strategic plan.
Peace be with you.
