if we wld stop using the words "zionism" and "imperialism" or "american imperialism" and replace them with words such as "particular theft of land" [+ by murder/expulsion] we wld be using labels which cannot be further elucidated nor defined.

thus, being undefinable, we stop defining them and all arguments about meaning of zionism or american imperialism end forever.

a zionist loves defining his/her zionism. I am not falling for it! Thus, bragging about being a zionist can be understood quite effortlessly by simply using a term that cannot be defined/explained: jefferson, jackson, truman, gurion, dayan, sharon ar eland robbers with murder for the indigenes.

they are in total agreement and very proud. tnx

Jay, you make very excellent points. In fact, I always hesitate before reading him, because he generally stops short of going nearly as far as one should, taking into account the facts. For me, if one looks at the Harman "scandal", at the appointment of Rahm Emanuel, at the declarations of love and affection Obama makes towards Israel (as it is) Pelosi is just one of the series of "Israel Firsters". While reading this, I was simply stunned at how some could think it was an anti-semitic thing to say that there is a Zionist lobby that runs the Foreign office (and not only) and holds the key positions in the US. For me, if someone in any capacity declared their alliance to another country before their own, I would never believe any of his acts were motivated by anything but that alliance, and I would feel very uncomfortable with this person in a position of the sort.

You are absolutely right here, but there are some other worthwhile points in the paper, and I presented it for those reasons.

Typical Stephen Zunes - a well-researched, well-written attack on the Democrats.

But read between the lines...why does he say that Pelosi is not too pro-Israel, just too right-wing? He means one should be pro-Israel, but in a left-wing way. He thinks one could support Israel without supporting apartheid. The problem is, every hectare of Israel was won by ethnic cleansing. The Zionist 'peace groups' he mentions are worse than useless. They say Israel's policies are bad for its security. But they are wrong.

Zunes is always trying to defend ordinary Israelis. He makes much of a protest saying "we won't die for Bush". Israelis are not being asked to die for Bush, they are being asked to kill for Jewish apartheid. And most of them would. One of the main reasons for the recent attack on Gaza was the ruling party wanted to show how 'hard' it was. Over 90% of Israelis supported the attack. They then voted for an even more racist government.

When Israel invaded Lebanon in 2006, Zunes argued that it was 'goaded' into it by the USA, which uses Israel to do its dirty work, and lets poor little Israel take the abuse. The truth is almost the opposite.

With the exception of the late senators Charles Percy and William Fulbright, all ranking members of Congress are in the pocket of American Zionists. When it comes to the Middle East, there is NO America first in Congress. There is only Israel and the benefits that come from voting for Zionist’s sponsored bills. As long as the American Zionists are in control of Congress and in control of key committees, there will never be peace in the Middle East, even if the Israelis and the Arabs somehow work things out, the American Zionist lobby will spoil things. The life line, the blood line of the lobby and its sponsored members of Congress, is not peace, but blood, the spilled blood of Jews and Arabs. When the blood flow the money flow. That is why Pelosi is right there as Speaker of the House.
