Dear Lina,

Thanks for your analysis, I agree with you much of the discussion that went on during Istanbul was palaver and did not lead to any constructive actions. the forum was simply too big and inefficient. The discussion was dominated and the transboundary sessions were quite a waste of time. Despite the large presence of Palestinians, no Israeli's really openly in sight to start a constructive and open discussion during the sessions. Also sessions on Jordan river basin that did not mention anything on demand management but instead were completely conceptual and abstract. A lot of money being pumped into this huge undertaking and one can wonder the effectiveness of it? So thanks for your contribution.

I am a filmmaker and I was at the world Water Forum as one of my films was displayed. Whilst there I filmed the Palestinians and an Israeli water expert discussing water issues. We were following Yousef Awayes of PWA for this for a promo-film on the EU-Meda Water programme. This is a programme that was set up by the EU to work on local water management in the Mediterranean region (not including Israel by the way). Please view my latest upload for our work-in-progress on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RmP-V1Tn78&feature=channel_page.

Of course this dialogue you see there was only in the corridors not in the sessions. Based on our visit to WWF we have now started doing research and development into a new independent documentary film on the Jordan valley basin hopefully working again with Yousef Awayes and others from all riparian countries. This film will be called "Share the drop (working title)" should serve as a dialogue triggering media output to get people started on using water as a necessity to bridge the divides rather than polarising differences.

Next to that, together with my partner Franscesca de Chatel (currently editor-in-chief of Syria today based in Damascus) I am currently setting up free media platform for water shortage stories from the Middle East intending to work with filmmakers, journalists, bloggers, photographers from all countries in the region. It is called "From the source" and we're uploading a trailer in the next four months. It will be cross-medial using the internet, facebook, twitter, blogs etc.

Anyone interested in any of these new media projects please get in touch with me joshka@sapiensproductions.com

All the best !
