Sign Petition to urge ICC to prosecute Israel for War Crimes

By Mary Rizzo • Jan 21st, 2009 at 16:41 • Category: Action Alert, Israel, Newswire, Palestine, Petitions, Resistance, War, Zionism

Approximately 300 among NGOs and associations ask the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to open an investigation on the war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza. Our support is indispensable. Sign and circulate this urgent «universal petition».

To the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC)

Law is the distinguishing mark of human civilisation. All progress made by humanity coincides with the consolidation of rights. The challenge that Israel’s aggression against Gaza poses to us consists in affirming, when confronted with such great suffering, that the response to violence is justice.

War crimes? Only courts are able to bring about a sentence, but all of us can bear witness, because a human being only exists in his relationship with others. The circumstances show the breadth of their dimension in Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1949, «All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.»

The protection of populations, and not only of States, is the reason why the International Criminal Court exists. A population without a State is the most threatened of all, and before History, they are placed under the protection of international bodies. The most vulnerable populations must be the most protected. Killing Palestinian civilians, the Israeli armoured tanks have caused humanity as a whole to bleed. We have been insisting that the power of the Prosecutor be put at the service of all the victims, and this task must allow that the entire world receives a message of hope, that of the construction of international rights based on human rights. And together, one day, we can pay homage to the Palestinian people for the contribution that they have given to the defence of human freedom.

  1. Israel moet berecht worden voor het internationaal Strafhof-universele petitie ………Yes oke, but after??Talk talk talk, organise, organse, time time time and again many expensif prisons and serve. NO we have to act!!!WE HAVE NO TIME!!! very soon(America,s Responsebility?),and dismantle their missused and Masskilling Army FAST,and Knesset as well .That is absolutely nesesary. If we wait too long They are very soon more dangerous ad the cost of even much more palestinian lives.(PssssT they have about 200 Nukes!!!) Well they all prepared their own Prison and accomodation … But first off all All palestinians have the right to come Home in their Own Land,Palestine . But MassmurderState Israel ?. 2. Those of us involved in indigenous struggles in North America recognize well this pattern of colonization and war crimes, where people are deliberately herded into unlivable concentration camp ghettos, blockaded and starved, and occasionally massacred. There is no room for such behavior, whether by the Isreali government in Palestine, or anywhere else. With the behavior of Israel in Palestine, we need a new Nuremburg, a new committment to bring a new generation of war criminals to justice. That is what the ICC must accomplish, for both the dead, and for the survivors who still must live in fear and captivity.

  3. I have heard sufficient reports which are disturbing enough to warrant an investigation.

  4. PLEASE OPEN AN INVESTAGATION FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED BY ISRAEL, IN GAZA, THANK-YOU…..JOSSIE ROSS

  6. I wish to add my voice to those calling for the prosecution of Israel at the International Criminal Court. For more than three weeks I was helplessly outraged, along with millions of others, at the slaughter of innocents in the Gaza Strip. The photos of mangled bodies, many of them children, have left me with indescribable feelings of anger at "man's inhumanity to man". This was no tsunami of natural forces .It was, it seems, the inevitable outcome of Israel's meticulously planned "rain of terror" on the most vulnerable…and all in perfect accordance with an ideology. War crimes must be investigated and, if validated, their perpetrators punished to the fullest extent possible!

  7. The state of Israel has admitted that it had been planning this operation for over a year thus exposing as a lie that it was a defensive response to intolerable provocation as the Israeli PR machine would have us all believe. This was a premeditated massacre by Israel of defenseless Palestinian men, woman and children, preceded by a strangling medieval style siege that had subjected to a long duration period of extreme deprivation.
The IDF used white phosphorous on civilian targets and there is documented proof that the IDF in fact delivered this horrible burning death from the sky.
Israel and its political and military leaders committed war crimes and have turned Israel into a morally bankrupt nation a pariah state. Its leaders should be prosecuted and tried — even in absentia — by the international criminal courts and international arrest warrants should be issued for those responsible for ordering and executing this massacre.

  8. It is time to make those who have habitually been committing crimes against humanity over the past six and a half decades realise that the world will not longer stand by and do nothing about their savage brutality; it is time that they be brought to book and pay for their crimes.

  9. moreover,
dead israeli war criminals as well as all living criminals shld be prosecuted; they number in thousands.
but above else they shld not be rewarded with any israel. let's recognize only palestine. if s'mone wants to prosecute any alleged palestinian criminals it's ok with me.
however, pals are morally and legally obligated to resist their occupation and other mistreatments. thnx

  10. The Palestinians can't be expected to continue to take the Israeli attacks. They should be armed so that they can repel them like the Lebanese people repelled them last year. Sent them home to think again. Power to the Palestinians and to the Arabs and all Muslims. It is your turn to feel the wrath of the US followed by it's lap dogs, and it's wrong. If the Jews want a homeland, give them Texas, and leave the Holy lands to the people who really belong there.

  11. The Germans are still apologizing for crimes committed 60 years ago. The U.S. and Israel don't even acknowledge, let alone apologize for, crimes committed by Israel just days ago.

  12. THERE IS NO SOLUTION THROUGH WAR

    – There must be a political resolution or there will be none at all ; /

  13. Palestinians have been driven off their ancestoral lands. Their homes are destroyed and replaced by illegal settlements. Israel controls every aspect of their lives, including movement, access to goods and services, access to healthcare, everything. And when Palestinians speak out, Israel responds by bombarding them with weaponry, including White Phosphorous. Israel is a Terrorist State and should be held accountable for their actions.

  14. Entire Israeli cabinet should be tried for war crime!!!

  15. Basically Israel has no right to exist. It is a terrorist nation founded on the bones and skulls f the rightful owners of the land, the Palestinian people.
Of course it will be great if the Zionist leaders who have been committing war crimes in cold blood are brought to justice and punished for their brutal crimes.

  16. As a human rights activist, I fully support an investigation into Israeli war crimes. The idea that an occupying country can bomb refugees is so out of line that the world cannot remain silent. If so, we will all be judged for our complicity in this horrendous massacre. There must be justice. The time of colonialization and the uprooting of indigenous people must end.

  17. [...] Sign Petition to urge ICC to prosecute Israel for War Crimes [...]

  18. The Zionists have engaged in premeditated mass killings of Palestinians for over 60 years. Enough is enough! This time, I urge the ICC to put Israelis on trial for crime against humanity for their state sponsored premeditated murders and several violations of international laws including the Geneva convention, the human rights and deliberate murdering innocent women and children.

  19. yes of course we all have to sign this petition asap, I will forward to many….eventough in the past so many israeli warcrimes were never brought to justice…Sabra&Chatilla, Jenin, Lebanon… and now the massacre in Gaza.
When will this injustice stop… when will this killingmachine been brought to a standstill…The whole world is watching and give a greenlight to the Zionists to kill, in full impunity….
The solution is simple…land and dignity to the Palestinians… while they were killing they did expand their settlements in the westbank.. little by little, meter by meter, inch by inch, they are annexing palestinian land in order to achieve the great Zionist dream.. Greater Israel…make no mistake about it, in the near future the will have taken the full territory, and Palestinians living in the state of Israel in Getto's, with a special kind of status…like during the apartheids regime in SA.
We do need to denounce this injustices and the hideos crimes, relentless.. cry out….

  20. My name is Coorevits Philippe, I am a belgian TV producer working and living in Thailand.
We are organizing a Charity project for Gaza with Expats living here.
A few days ago i saw a footage about a little Palestinian girl ( 5 ot 6 years old) who had been shot in the back by Israeli snipers. She miraculously survived but she was paralysed..
we would like to trace here, here name, hospital, etc…
is there someone who can help me out, please..

  21. Not only I believe that Israel should be prosecuted for the crimes done in Gaza and Beirut, but they also need to pay for the 2 billion dollars damage done to Gaza.

  22. Through the taxes we Americans are forced to pay we are full partners in this Israeli genocide of Palestine.
We are murdering these innocents with our F16s, our Apache attack helicopters, our Caterpillar dozers, our tanks, our bombs and our other, newer, murder tools.

  23. Israel deserves to be held to account for its war crimes in Gaza !

I think this article is related to your question. it is about a little girl who was wounded in 2006 after an israeli attack on her family's car. the hospital where she is now is not mentioned, but the name of the girl and of persons who are supporting her case are indicated.

  25. TIME FOR THE WAR CRIMES TRIBUNAL TO BEGIN

  26. It will be great if the Zionist leaders who have been committing war crimes in cold blood are brought to justice and punished for their brutal crimes.

  27. Thanks Ioana, but she has been shoot in the back and was in a Gazean hospital, just 2 weeks ago.
The one you refer to was hit in 2006.
Thanks for your assistence and informacion.

  28. Any "first world" nation would fight for a war crime investigation. Let Palestine have its justice.

  29. So many UN resolutions has-been vetoed by US, hopefully now in this administration which suppose to be fair and balanced? Will NOT veto more!

It should pursue International laws and human dignity.

  30. Israel must be held accountable for any crimes committed during its latest Gaza operation. The use of White Phosphorous on civilian targets is categorized as a War Crime. The targeting of UN Schools and the UN Compound are also crimes. Those responsible need to held accountable for their actions.

  31. @Feras Abdulhadi – Not only the Zionist leaders should be brought to justice. but all those who collaborated and supported these leaders committing their crimes. Bush, Ramsfeld and Cheyney as well as Abbas, Mubarak and the Saudi Abdullah. The Eurpean Union leaders, Canada, Australia among others should be condemnd for their silence and for not speaking out against these crimes.

    Agreed to this

  34. GENOCIDE;

It is ironic that the victims of the Nazi Holocaust are now the Nazi Gestapo they feared and hated. What America and Israel are doing is a repeat of what the U.S. Cavalry did to the American Indians a hundred and fifty years ago. Like the Palestinians, the Indians were herded in to "reservation." Those who resisted were systematically slaughter. It's documented in Dee Brown's book "I Buried My Heart at Wounded Knee." Famous Civil War Generals such as Custer, Sheridan, Stone carried out these massacres. The Palestinians are today's American Indians. America did the same thing in Vietnam only there they called their concentration camps strategic Centers and New Life Development Hamlets. The U.S. killed three and a half million Vietnamese. Why weren't these war criminals prosecuted? Is there no justice?

  35. Israel (like USA and a few others) has not joined the ICC, and ICC can only try people from countries that has joined. Calling for ICC to investigate Israel is therefore pointless, they don't have the mandate to do so. In theory UN could set up a specielt tribunal as has been done after some other conflicts, but good luck getting past the US veto.

  36. Please investigate. There had been obvious war crimes commited and will always be commited unless it is stopped and it starts here. They cant continue with this aggression and oppression against the palestinian civllians

  37. Israel must be held accountable for any crimes committed during its latest Gaza operation

  38. Killer of the prophets ; your end will come sooner or later

  40. Israel needs to finally be stoped and held accountable for their actions. I mean how long is this going to go on Israel needs to finally be stopped and held accountable for their actions. I mean how long is this going to go on? For so long they have been killing innocent babies, children and destroying so many lives, and still everyone makes excuses for them. They need to be stopped for once and for all.

  41. It's already four months on and we need to remind the ICC, that we mean busuness in bringing justice to the Palestinian people and holding Israel accountable for it's actions.

  42. I'm so appalled by reading this biased international news on the Palestinian freedom fighters (who are commonly and conveniently called "terrorists" by their imperialist occupants). These people, remember, haven't even an own country! Is that right for everyone of you???? Does everyone realize what this means and what the consequences are of living in such status? To be considered by the world community, dominated by Jewish selfish interests, as "terrorist"? Why do they not have the right to have an own nationality? An own country? An own government? Why do they have to be humiliated within their own territory when going from one side of their "stolen" country to another side by these criminal Israeli's who consider Palestine as a "big game" comparable to the neighboring areas of the Kruger Park in South Afrika.
Obama, wake up! Before it's too late. You're supporting the wrong guys, guys who have missed so much opportunities in the past to settle these problems in a fair and peaceful way, but no, their territorial claims by these illegal settlements (UN resolution!) leave them with only one solution: modern and devastating killing warfare, bought (?) from the US and heavily supported by their cronies in the States. There is indeed only one solution to this problem: Israeli's, return to your borders from the 1960's, dismantle the settlements and live peacefully next to the State of Palestine after you have paid the damage you have caused to these poor prisoners and their properties that you have inflicted to them. Their children will otherwise continue to fight you, eternally and without mercy, but with the growing support from more and more honest and peaceful people! Long live Palestine!
