STEVE AMSEL – The Peace Train Won't be Stopping in Israel

I am more disappointed in the fact that Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) accepted the invitation to perform in Israel than the fact that he was denied entry, on ’security grounds’.

I am even more disappointed that Mercedes Sousa accepted the invitation as well and is here at the moment to perform. This, despite many personal appeals to her to reconsider performing here…. which is an endorsement of the Apartheid system.

Sousa is, or at least should be, aware of the role the International Solidarity Movements played in helping to restore Democracy to her native Argentina during the days of the fascist dictatorship there. Is it not expecting to much for a person such as herself, a well known advocate of Human Rights, to do the same here?
SHAME ON YOU MERCEDES SOUSA!

As for Islam, his actions are nothing less than a disgrace. For a man of his stature to turn his back on his own Islamic brothers and sisters is an unforgivable crime. Much more was expected of him.
SHAME ON YOU YUSUF ISLAM!!

The performances were to be at the Peres Centre for Peace, which is an insult in itself. To name a centre dedicated to Peace after an avowed war criminal is unforgivable. The man has lied his way through over 60 years of Israel’s history and continues to do so.
SHAME ON YOU SHIMON PERES!!!
BOYCOTT ISRAEL ~~~ DON’T ENDORSE ITS POLICIES!

  1. Mercedes Sosa – not Sousa

    I love your website Mary.

I have also been an advocate for Paletinian rights since I began to think.
    Keep up the good work.
    And check this out: http://reasontraditionandliberty.blogspot.com/2008/10/prosecute-george-bush-outside-of-usa.html

  2. Is Tlaxcala looking for more translators English-Spanish Spanish-English?

  3. Thanks Chris!
will check out the post you suggest…

and YES; we are always looking for activist translators, and if you would like to check out our site, see the manifesto and investigate being part of the group, that would be great. I have to say, not only do we do a lot of work that seems to make a difference, our translations are practically everywhere and have become a sign of quality activist translations, because of the way we work, but… we are a group of people from all over the place who cooperate with one another and have developed a really positive and friendly connection.

The Spanish contingent is really strong, and they have a few websites that they feed regularly, including Rebelion. You would probably enjoy the companeros! I love them!

I am appalled that Yusuf Islam had accepted such an invitation from such murderous entity from a center created by a war criminal and named after him

However I am glad that they rejected him, refused his entry and slapped him in the face, which might just help wake him up to the reality of this vile regime

I don’t doubt the intentions of Yusuf Islam; however, he should be more vigilant and not fall into the zionist trap

zionists have been working hard in recent years to gloss over the vile crimes committed on daily basis for over 60 years, by attempting to present it as a peace-loving, peace-searching entity through the creation of many organizations that talk about peace but muffle the faintest voice that dares to mention justice

Those organizations do not acknowledge the harm inflected upon the Palestinians nor do they show any willingness to remedy them fairly

How could one allow his/her quest for peace blind them to the fact that the only road to peace is though justice?

As we witness the incessant murder of justice in Palestine, any claims that we could achieve peace with ignoring justice is plain wickedness if the aim is to improve the ugly image of the occupier, or mere fantasy if we assume good intentions

Maybe Yusuf Islam should consider visiting Gaza and singing about the peace train that was denied entry to the stolen land of Palestine, or the peace train that was stopped at checkpoint, or the peace train that was bombed to oblivion by cluster bombs, thus he would have kept his dignity and stood by his beliefs

He would’ve been taken more seriously by peace loving people and his words would be perceived as being authentic and realistic

    VERY DISAPPOINTING YUSUF
