Celloman Sensuous, funky flights of melody from an extraordinary cello virtuoso. Ivan Hussey has featured on countless hits & albums including the work of Mick Jagger, Maxi Priest & Incognito. Tonight he performs his stunning, solo set fusing middle-eastern sounds with classical melodies to hair-raising effect.
Sarah Gillespie Anglo-American songstress Gillespie has just completed her debut album & is performing high profile festivals up & down the country. All original material, expect emotive ballads & raucous gypsy swing incorporating pre-rock elements of jazz, blues & vaudeville. With witty, incisive lyrics & infectious melodies, Sarah delivers her songs with a powerfully sensuous voice & some seriously deft finger-picking guitar. Feat: Ben Bastin - double bass, Gilad Atzmon - accordion & sax, Emma Stocktan - backing vocals, Asaf Sirkis - drums.
Ian Shaw Delightfully subversive, Welsh-born jazz vocalist, lyricist, pianist & producer Ian Shaw is described by Jazzwize as ˜the leading male jazz singer of his generation”. Tonight he will performing an intimate set on piano of originals & unusual covers far beyond the usual realms of the jazz-standard cannon.
Nick Meier Group feat Gilad Atzmon Swiss guitarist Nicolas Meier is one of the rising stars of the British jazz scene, his trademark sound, as heard on his Naim albums, a mixture of Methenyesque jazz & spicy Turkish & world music rhythms. The Meier Group have toured extensively in Europe, sharing the bill with the likes of Elvin Jones, Brad Meldau, Trilok Gurtu & Bill Evans. But he is becoming increasingly well known in his adopted country as well where his Meier group features International sax star & anti-Zionist polemicist Gilad Atzmon, bassist Tom Mason – double bass, & the renowned Asaf Sirkis – drums.
